What People Say:
“Tony is an exceptionally talented musician and an amazing guitar tutor to all our students. Lessons are taught with great kindness and patience and are always structured to suit the students needs. My students have all commented that their lessons are presented in a fun and relaxed way which makes them easy to understand and easy to practice at home. They are taught both practical playing skills as well as music theory and I am always delighted with their quick progress. For our complete beginners, Tony has passed on a passion for playing which they will take away with them when they leave College and this is a gift for life. I feel very fortunate to have Tony as part of our College and highly recommend him to anyone of any age and ability looking for lessons.”
Head of Music & Performance
London Academy of Excellence
“Tony teaches The Epping Forest Guitar Group, an ensemble of 7 consisting of classical and acoustic players, some who read music and others just tab. He’s a fantastic teacher with the ability to deal with the range of abilities in our group. He’s inspirational and enthusiastic and provides a variety of music for the group to work on each week. The group are very lucky to have such a talented guitarist as our teacher.”
Christine Benbow, Epping Forest Guitar Group
“Tony is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and a gifted musician and teacher. I have learned a great deal over the last few months. He sets challenging targets and encourages me to achieve them. I recommend him wholeheartedly.”
Michael Walker, Essex
“Tony has been a signicant mentor and contributor to my growth and success as an artist to date. From introducing me to the instrument in my formative years, to being awarded a place at the BRIT School, to now being a full time performer dedicated to my craft, performing on the stages of London. Tony has been of immense value to my learning, I would not be where I am without him. He is gold. He is in the industry. He has personal and intellectual wisdom. If you want to grow, seriously, go to him. He is gold.”
Tristan Samek Ralph, BRIT School
“Very highly recommended. Tony is an outstanding teacher for all levels. Case in point – my son Max and I started lessons with Tony when Max was 9 – 10 years old. Max plays like Jimi Hendrix and I have progressed to being able to play to Metallica and Guns N’ Roses! Beyond being a great teacher, Tony has become a friend and I really look forward to our lessons.”
Randal Barker, Central London
“Tony is a talented guitarist, and talented teacher.
He’s taught in schools and various other environments. He balances explanations of the theory with great practical examples, and will show you various ways to approach a technique from online backing tracks to metronomes to other sources. He’ll play along side you to help you get the rhythm and then watch you play alone so he can critique and help your style. He can spot when your attention is waning and will move on to something completely different to pick it up again, but you’ll realise later that the new thing will complement what you were learning before.
The guy’s an award winning musician (one half of De Fuego) so even just taking a minute to watch him play an example is brilliant.
I’m pretty busy in general and I’ll often go in to a lesson feeling tired, and my mind occupied with other things but by the time I leave I go out inspired and a lot happier!”
Jamie Buchahan, South London
“I started lessons with Tony a few months ago after mothballing my guitar for 40 years! Tony convinced me the muscle memory would still be there, and with his encouragement and advice slowly progress was made.
He provided the music, lyrics and help to get me playing a selection of my favourites
He is very knowledgeable, patient and enthusiastic. He loves music and his job and I would recommend him for all levels.”
